RESILIENCE

The Three Legged Stool As A Metaphor For Naomi's Overall Approach To Treatment

Whatever causes you to seek professional guidance at this time, we start with the concept of resilience, no matter what your problem(s) may be. Resilience, as represented by the seat of the 3-legged stool allows you to sit on the stool without falling. Resilience is both profoundly simple and yet a complex concept that all human beings experience and can improve upon. When you have a high degree of resilience you have the ability to reflect on your thoughts, feelings and behaviors.  This enables you to make deep connections across time and space (insight), in a non-judgemental manner (self-compassion), and engage in activities that foster  concentration and creativity (coping skills). Simply put, a high degree of resilience gives you the ability to manage stress in a healthy, and productive manner.  When you have a high degree of resilience, you sit on the stool without falling, as the three legs - insight, coping skills, and self-compassion provide your foundation.  All three legs are of equal importance, without all three, the stool tips or falls. Our work together will enable you to gain new insight, explore healthy coping skills and begin the healing process of self-compassion in a safe and supportive environment.
